Some Proposals on Designing Spoken Language
Dialogue Systems for Fixed-Form Tasks
Abstract:This report presents some. proposals on designing spoken language
dialogue systems, which perform fixed-form tasks such as hotel
reservation and on-line help. The report proposes an architecture for
spoken dialogue systems, a way to control tasks, and an interface module
between task-independent natural language processing modules and
natural language-independent task processing modules. The proposals
are in accordance with standard methods in software engineering, and a
proposed natural language processing module makes use of task
knowledge obtained from object analysis during software design.
