A Study of Pauses as Phrase Demarcators
for Processing Spontaneous Speech
Abstract:In investigating syntactic constraints for spontaneous speech recognition in the framework of
speech translation, we propose pauses as phrase demarcators and interpausal phrases as basic processing units. We report a survey of two kinds of spontaneous speech data to investigate pausal
phenomena and its application to speech recognition.
