A Mathematical Framework for Auditory Processing: A Mellin Transform of a Stabilised Wavelet Transform?
Abstract:In this paper we describe a computational version of the auditory Mellin transform. This involves 1) specifying the role of existing processes and representations, such as the auditory filter bank, the auditory image, and the auditory figure, in the larger Mellin transform framework, 2) developing an auditory form of the extensions required to complete the Mellin transform, and 3) specifying the relationship between the products of the Mellin transform and the components of auditory perception.
