In a teleconferencing system with realistic sensations, a human image is generated by CG. It is required to animate a natural eye movement using CG. In this paper, we describe a real-time animation technique to generate blinking and gaze shift using Graphic Workstation and we report the results of an experiment on the feeling of a gaze. In our experiment, we subjectively evaluated the feeling of eye contact using static and moving eyes and we evaluated the feeling of convergence. We also performed experiments on the feeling of gaze direction using 2D and 3D display. We evaluated the feeling of a gaze in a teleconferencing with 2 persons. Moreover, we describe a real-time CG eye-animation system combined with an eye movement detector.
